If you’re feeling behind on planning — you’re not alone.
Whether it’s a wedding, shower, or birthday party, many people think they have “plenty of time”… until suddenly, they don’t. 😬
At MRS Party Planner, we’ve worked with clients at every stage — from the early birds with Pinterest boards and color swatches to the “we have 2 months, please help!” crowd.
Here’s what we tell all of them:
💡 The Sooner You Start, The Smoother It Flows
Giving yourself more time doesn’t just spread out the workload — it opens up better options, more availability, and a lot more breathing room.
Early planning means:
✔ More venue choices
✔ Better vendor availability
✔ Realistic budgets
✔ Less decision fatigue
✔ Time for personal touches
⏰ So… When Should You Start?
Here’s a general cheat sheet:
Weddings:
Start planning 9–12 months out (or more if you want a popular date/venue). Book your planner, venue, and key vendors first!
Showers, birthdays, or intimate events:
2–4 months is ideal — especially if you need rentals or vendors involved.
Proposals or surprise events:
1 month minimum if you want it to be thoughtful and go smoothly.
😅 What Happens If You Don’t Start Early?
Let’s be real: last-minute planning can be done. But it usually means:
- Compromising on your top choices
- Paying rush fees
- More stress (and less sleep)
- Relying on friends/family to pull double duty
- No time for the details that make it feel like you
And honestly? You deserve better than that.
